HHJ Architecture & Construction
Oldcastle Fredrickson Manufacturing

In the fall of 2015, Oldcastle APG tasked HHJ with a critial mission: to design and construct an advanced cement block and paver manufacturing facility, ensuring it would be operational in time for the busy spring sales season of 2017. Designed as a pre-engineered steel structure, the facility was carefully customized to house state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment sourced from around the world. Its exeptional quality earned recognition from Pierce County, securing a place among the Top 10 Projects of the Year and receiving a special commendation from the County Executive.

Key Challenges Overcome: Efficient and streamlined scheduling was critical for this project, requiring the development of two interlinked manufacturing facilities with phased construction capabilities. When the need for increased manufacturing capacity emerged ahead of schedule, HHJ quickly adapted, adjusting construction timelines to meet urgent production deadlines. The client chose to manage equipment procurement and installation in-house, entrusting HHJ with coordination and support to ensure smooth integration with other MEP trades while complying with Washington state labor regulations.
