NC Machinery

NC Machinery of Lacey is the newest CAT Equipment sales, service, and rental dealership in the Puget Sound area. This is the 5th facility of this sort that NC Machinery has worked with HHJ to complete. HHJ performed both the design and construction of this design-build project.

During the early stages of the design phase, the project went through the City of Lacey’s lengthy design review process. During that process, HHJ obtained permits to proceed with environmental remediation of contaminated soils that were found as part of HHJ’s feasibility study for NC before they purchased the property. HHJ’s architecture team worked with engineering consultants to coordinate civil design, landscape requirements, planning/zoning restrictions, and environmental requirements. The final design for the 9-acre site resulted in features like heavy equipment displays, storage, and service yards with reinforced concrete pavement, and underground stormwater infiltration systems to maximize use of the site.

Construction of the 36,150 SF building required a mix of construction types. The primary structure and roof comprise a pre-engineered metal building. Concrete walls were installed to guard against the wear and tear of a heavy equipment service shop. The metal building frame also supports multiple overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes and was designed with capacity for additional cranes. An oversized equipment wash bay was installed with a specialty wastewater treatment and reclaim system. They are located on 8.73 acres in the light industrial zone of Lacey, WA. It has a building footprint of 36,142 square feet and a building gross area of 38,969 square feet. Â
